Atelier Eva Tattoo Studio
Williamsburg Brooklyn, NY
It was our Honor to be Commissioned by Atelier Eva to Design and Build the Furnishings to Outfit a New Space they secured in late 2019 in Williamsburg Brooklyn. It was Clear to Us from the Start that the Overall Feel and Vision for the Space was to be Very Different than any Familiar Tattoo Studio Aesthetics. After a Site Visit to Measure and Discuss General Layout we put together a set of Digital Renderings of the Space with the Furniture Designs Integrated to Allow Eva and Her Team to View the Designs to Scale before Approvals and Fabrication Began. Collaborating with such a Creative and Optimistic Client throughout 2020 and the Global Climate and Challenges was a Huge Relief.
Materials and Finishes Such As Bleached Oak and Ash, Burnt/Oiled White Oak, Black Walnut, Hot Rolled Steel, Blackened Steel and Acid Etched Grey Glass Came Together to Compliment and Add Warmth to the Clean Industrial Space.
“Where to begin! My wife and I began working with Joe in early 2020 to design and build several pieces for our new tattoo studio in Williamsburg (Atelier Eva). We wanted custom work that was finely crafted and had an artisan vibe to it. It was important to us to work with someone who was as passionate about his work as we are about ours...enter Joe! Joe has been an absolute joy to work with. He asks questions, takes feedback, and comes back with designs/ideas that we couldn't have ever thought of ourselves. Every detail matters. After one conversation with Joe it became abundantly clear that we wouldn't find anyone else who rivaled his creativity and commitment to delivering an awesome result. The design of our business is anchored by the pieces of CAUV Design and we take every chance we get to tell people about it!”

Custom Whiskey Unit
Tribeca Penthouse | New York, NY
A Client reached out to me in the spring of 2021. He had spent his life amassing an amazing personal collection of rare and fine Whiskeys from around the Globe. He challenged me to design a Custom Unit to both House, Display, and Protect his collection as well as being a statement piece for his new Unit in Tribeca. After kicking around alterations on my original design renders based on interlocking steel plates with hand patina characteristics and brass details we decided on the following. In the end the piece ended up at 6 feet wide and topping out at 8 1/2 feet tall. Behind the Steel Shelving are LED back lighting and white stones with white veining. The most prized bottles in the collection are kept safe behind starphire glass doors with steel frames and solid brass locks with hand rubbed patina finishes.
“Just was looking at how great the Whiskey Shelving/cabinet came out. I love walking past it. It’s really amazing. Thanks for all your effort on that and really think you did a great job.”
Foyer Credenza & Meditation Alter
Catskills, NY
CAUV Design was Approached by a Lovely Couple who was Building a Modern Home in the Southern Catskills of NY. After an Initial Design Consult at our Studio to Discuss Spacial Layout over the Blueprints I got to work Rendering the Rooms and Designing the new Credenza Pieces to Scale. Upon our followup Consult we Finalized the Designs and set the wheels in Motion on the Wall Mount Foyer Piece and Meditation Room Alter. The Outcome is a set of Casework Pieces that Perfectly Compliment the Modern Lines and Moments Created by Studio MM Architects.

The Foyer Piece is Based on our “Cave” Credenza Design and Altered to Wall Mount. Materials and Finishes on both pieces Include Burnt/Oiled White Oak, Black Walnut, Blackened Steel, and Directional Finish Steel.
“Joe Cauvel is a master designer and craftsman! He created 2 beautiful credenzas designed specifically for our new home. We enjoyed working with him on the design and then receiving the two pieces. The quality of the wood, the finishing and the design is stunning. We highly recommend CAUV Design and Joe!”
